NCLEX Test Structure

The following are the four sections and ten subsection of the NCLEX:

Safe, Effective Care Environment

  • Management of Care
  • Safety and Infection Control

This fist section test the students knowledge of the Client Rights, Concepts of Management, Quality Improvement, Ethical Practice, Legal Rights and Responsibilities, Supervision, Confidentiality, Incident Reports, Communication, Establishing Priorities, Case Management, Delegation, Advocacy and Staff Education.

Health Promotion and Maintenance

  • Growth and Development Through the Life Span
  • Prevention and Early Detection of Disease

The second section helps to determine the student’s knowledge of Physical Assessment Techniques, Immunizations, Family Planning, Health Promotion Programs, Health Screening, Disease Prevention, growth and Development, Family Systems, High risk Behaviors, Life Style Choices Health and Wellness.

Psychosocial Integrity

  • Coping and Adaptation
  • Psychosocial Adaptation

The third section helps to assess the student’s skill in dealing with Domestic Violence, Child Abuse/Neglect, Stress Management, Coping Mechanisms, Mental Health Concepts, Counseling Techniques, Cultural Diversity, Family Dynamics, Religious and Spiritual Influences on Health, Grief and Loss, Support Systems

Physiological Integrity

  • Basic Care and Comfort
  • Pharmacological and Parenteral Therapies
  • Reduction of Risk Potential
  • Physiological Adaptation

The last section which is the fourth section measures Personal Hygiene, Nutrition and Oral Hydration, Assistive Devices, Teaching and Learning, Self Care, Mobility/Immobility, Alternative and Complementary Therapies, Rest and Sleep, Diagnostic Tests, Dosage Calculation, Vital Signs, system Specific Assessments, Surgical Procedures
