NCLEX Test Preparation
Since there is no score level but just the determination of the passing or failing of the student in the exam the student needs to concentrate on how to acquire a passing result. The computer adaptive format assess the skills of the student though its adaptive format. It is important that the student answers the questions carefully to avoid ending up with increased number of questions. The National Council does not make past NCLEX questions available and hence the students have to be satisfied with practicing on questions modeled on the exam format. Through proper preparation the student can face the exam tension free and stand to gain a passing score in their first attempt.
The first and most important art of the preparation involves gaining a good insight of the test sections and structure. This site contains many helpful information regarding the test plan, application procedures, locations of Pearson Professional Centers (testing sites), and more.
There are many sources available for the student to prepare himself well for the NCLEX test. Recourses can be found on the NCLEX online testing site or from review books such as the Sandra Smith's Review for NCLEX-RN and Sandra Smith's Review for NCLEX-PN. Through these practice test the student not only gains confidence to face the real exam but also able to assess his strengths and weakness trough these test. Once this is determined the student can work on his weaknesses and improve himself. Repeated practice tests are a great way for evaluating the student’s progress.
Memorizing facts and figures and detailed information will not be sufficient the student should try and practice with questions that are similar in content and difficulty with NCLEX. It is beneficial to remember that the NCLEX is designed to test the student’s ability to analyze problems, apply his knowledge to take decisions.
