NCLEX Scoring
The NCLEX examination is scored by the computer on which the student takes the test and then by the National Council's testing service. There is no score points awarded to the student. The computer adaptive test is designed to assess the student’s ability and schedule the questions accordingly. The minimum number of questions that needs to be answered by the student for the computer to successfully are 75 for NCLEX-RN and 85 for NCLEX-PN and the maximum questions are 205 and 265 respectively. If the student fails the test, his state board of nursing will mail him a diagnostic profile outlining the areas where the performance was satisfactory and the areas where it was not.
Once the computer assess the students ability the exam will stop and no further questions will be put forth to the student. There is no limitation on the number of attempts the student makes but there has to be a waiting period of 91 days between each attempt. The test results will be mailed to the students within 2 weeks from the date of the exam. Incase of making another attempt the student will have to pay the registration fee in full and submit it along with a registration form an “Intent to Retake the Examination” form to DOPL
