IELTS SCORING
The scores of the IELTS test are reported in the band format. The candidates will be given a separate Band Score for each section of the test and an average of all the sections presented as the Overall Band Score. Each Band is accompanied with an account giving a review of the English at that level. There are a total of nine Band levels, from one (non-user) to nine (expert user).
The minimum score that has to be secured by the student to gain admission for a course ranges from 5.0 to 7.5, depending upon courses and institutes that the candidate has selected. The majority, regular condition to gain admission into course of their choice is a band score of 6 to 6.5. Test Reports are valid for up to two years. It is possible to retake the test if the candidate does not acquire the desired score results, but it is mandatory that there is a time gap of 3 months between each attempt.
Computer Based IELTS and paper-based IELTS are scored using the same nine-band scale. The score report is posted within two weeks of the test date.
